How to make it
1
Finely chop the vegetables
- On a cutting board, finely chop the onion and peeled carrot (about 5 mm)
- Cut the green peppers in half lengthwise, remove the seeds and stems, and cut into 5 mm cubes
How to tell it's doneAll 3 kinds are finely chopped. The green pepper goes in later, so keep it separate.
2
Stir-fry the onion and carrot
- Put 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a frying pan and heat over medium heat
- Add the onion, carrot, and 1 tsp each of garlic and ginger, and stir-fry
How to tell it's doneThe onion is see-through and soft.
3
Stir-fry the ground meat
- Add 200 g mixed ground meat
- Stir-fry while breaking it up finely with a spatula
How to tell it's doneThe ground meat has no red (pink) parts left, and it is brown and crumbly all over.
4
Add curry powder and seasonings
- Add the green pepper and mix lightly
- Sprinkle in 1 1/2 tbsp curry powder and mix it all in
- Add 2 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce and 1 tsp consommé granules and mix
How to tell it's doneThe curry powder is no longer powdery, and it smells strongly of curry.
Be carefulCurry powder turns bitter if it burns. Turn the heat down before adding it.
5
Add water and cook down
- Add 100 ml water and mix
- Cook down, stirring now and then, until almost no liquid is left
- Taste it. If the flavor is weak, add salt a pinch at a time
- Put rice on a plate and top with the keema curry
ReadyWhen you run the spatula across the bottom, there is so little liquid that you can clearly see the bottom of the pan.
