How to tell it's doneEverything is about the same size (about like dice).
Be carefulMove the knife slowly. Curl the fingertips of the hand holding the food inward, and don't point your fingertips at the blade. Carrots and potatoes roll easily, so first cut them in half and put the cut side down before cutting.

🥬 Ingredient guide

If it didn't work out

It is sourThe sourness of the canned tomatoes is still there. Add a pinch of sugar and simmer 5 min more on low heat. Next time, simmer at least 15 min in step 3.
The potatoes or carrots are hardThey were cut too big, or did not simmer long enough. Put on the lid and add 5 min at a time on low heat, checking with a bamboo skewer.
The potatoes fell apart and made it thick and mushyIt simmered too long, or boiled hard on strong heat. The taste doesn't change, so it's fine to eat. Next time, use low heat and turn it off as soon as a bamboo skewer goes through.
The soup went down and got too strong, or the bottom might burnThe lid was open too much and the water boiled off. Add water 50 ml at a time and taste again. Don't scrape the burnt parts.
The taste is weak or dullUsually it needs more salt. Add salt a pinch at a time and taste each time. Add more salt especially when making it without bacon.
