How to make it
1
Cut into small florets
- Wash the broccoli. On the cutting board, cut into florets by cutting where each small branch meets the thick stem
- For large florets, make a cut in the stem and break them in half by hand
- Peel the thick stem thickly and cut into 5 mm thick slices (you can boil and eat them too)
How to tell it's doneThe florets are all bite-size.
2
Boil in salted water
- Put 1 L water in a pot over high heat. When it boils, add 1 tsp salt
- Add the stems first, then the florets, and boil for 2 minutes
- Drain in a strainer, spread out and let cool
How to tell it's doneThe florets are bright green, and a bamboo skewer goes in easily into the stems.
Be carefulWhen draining, set the strainer in the sink and pour a little at a time so the steam and hot water don't hit your face or hands.
3
Make the dressing
- Put 2 tbsp ground white sesame seeds, 2 tsp sugar and 2 tsp soy sauce in a bowl
- Mix well with a spoon
How to tell it's doneThe sugar grains are gone and it becomes a moist paste.
4
Toss with the broccoli
- Pat the broccoli dry lightly with paper towels
- Put it in the bowl from step 3 and mix so the sesame coats everything
- Taste it. If the flavor is weak, add a few drops of soy sauce
ReadyEvery floret is coated with sesame.
Be carefulToss right before eating. If you toss too early, water comes out and the flavor gets weak.
