How to make it
1
Cut slits
- Lay a sausage sideways on the cutting board. From one end, cut a slit lengthwise with a knife about 2/3 of the way along
- Turn the sausage 90 degrees and cut another slit from the same spot. Now it has 4 legs
- If you want 8 legs, cut each of the 4 legs in half lengthwise again
- Curl the fingertips of the hand holding the sausage and keep them away from the knife
How to tell it's doneAll 6 have about 1/3 left uncut as the head.
Be carefulIf you cut all the way to the base, the legs tear off when you fry them. Leave the head part uncut.
2
Fry, rolling them
- Put 1 tsp vegetable oil in a frying pan and heat over medium-low heat
- Lay in the sausages and fry, rolling them now and then with cooking chopsticks
- Standing them up legs down and pressing makes the legs open wide
How to tell it's doneThe legs curl outward and open, and the surface is lightly browned. Cut 1 in half: it is hot all the way to the middle and steaming.
Be carefulOil can pop and splatter. Do not put your face too close.
3
Add sesame seed eyes
- Take them out onto a plate and cool until you can touch them
- With the tip of a toothpick, poke 2 small holes in the head
- Push 1 black sesame seed into each hole (12 seeds in all)
ReadyAll 6 have 2 eyes, and the seeds do not fall out when you turn them upside down.
